Yes, your favorite band is pretty awesome. They sound like nothing else sounds. Nobody knows more about them than you do. In fact, you were among the first to hear about them.
But now, there is this trend amongst the youngsters to wear band shirts. It’s driving you insane, you keep stopping people on the street, asking them to tell you what’s on the B-side of their first album. It’s a trick question, since the B-side only contains the drummer’s rants about obscure motorcycles. The local youths avoid you now.
The thing is, trends and fashion have never been very smart. They come and go, roll over subcultures and leave again. You’ll get through this. One day, the stylish people will go back to those tees with large brand names.
Speaking of those, can you explain every word on your clothing? What does ADIDAS stand for and why does it make Germans uncomfortable? Does CAT stand for felines or something else? Which GAP are they talking about, is that what formula one drivers always go for? How does one properly pronounce Nike in ancient Greek? What about those Shirts with “SURF CLUB 1987” on them? Better find out what that means.
You see, it’s totally normal not to know every detail about things you wear. You just wear them; they don’t wear you. Everything’s gonna be alright.
And that drummer? The motorcycle people said he was wrong about the Albion gearbox of that Royal Enfield.
